The members of this year's Academic Team, which competes in the Greater Cincinnati Academic League, have been chosen. They are:

SENIORS: Rob Altenau, Jay Arns, Zach Berrens, Dan Schill, Doug Steurenberg, Adam Weber, and Kevin Welch

JUNIORS: Mark Byrnes, Adam Graham, Andy Smith, and Tom Tiemeier

FRESHMEN: Chris Laake

The GCAL consists of teams from Moeller, McAuley, Roger Bacon, McNicholas, St. Ursula, St. Xavier, Ursuline, La Salle, Purcell Marian, Oldenburg Academy, and Elder.

The Elder Academic Team competed in the Southwest Regional Academic Tournament at Northmont High School on Saturday, April 28. The team lost to Northridge High, 42-41, in the second round (after a bye in the 1st round), and was defeated in Round 3 by Washington Court House, 40-29, in the double elimination tournament. The appearance was Elder's first in the state tournament in only their second year of competition in the Greater Cincinnati Academic League. Competing for Elder were seniors Rob Altenau, Zach Berrens, Doug Stuerenberg, and Kevin Welch, and junior Andy Smith.
