Season Highlights: The team again improved their record, this time going 9-1 on the season, beaten only by the undefeated Roger Bacon Spartans. Bacon finished the season in second place in the state rankings. The 1967 Panthers scored 237 points, while allowing only 110. Ron Krechting returned for his senior season at quarterback, passing for 1239 yards and 12 TDs; junior Larry Parker anchored the rushing attack with 930 yards gained for the season, scoring 11 rushing TDs. Junior Kim Knoppe led the receivers with 43 receptions for 558 yards and 5 TDs.

Following big wins over Woodward and Portsmouth, the battle for the GCL began in Game 3 when Roger Bacon hosted the Panthers. The Spartans made the Panthers pay for two early fumbles with touchdowns, and the Purple and White could never recover, losing 22-7. Elder took revenge on La Salle the following week, winning 20-6. In Game 5 vs. Moeller, Larry Parker had his first 100-yard rushing game, gaining 117 yards and 2 touchdowns on 27 carries. Mark Kneflin provided the third score on a four-yard pass from Krechting.

Elder overcame 3 fumbles and 3 interceptions to defeat the Bombers in Game 6, 16-8; Mike Minges and Knoppe provided the scores. Against Purcell, Elder overcame a 14-7 half-time deficit with 12 points in the fourth quarter. With Elder down 14-13, the winning touchdown was set up by a pass interference call against Purcell which gave the Panthers the ball on the two-yard line and no time left on the clock. Parker ran the ball in for the score to win the game, 19-14.

In Game 8, Larry Parker scored 3 touchdowns and 2 conversions to lead the Panthers over McNicholas, 41-21. Mike Minges added two more scores, one on a 54-yard run. The following week the Panthers gained revenge over Newport Catholic for the previous season's loss, beating the Thoroughbreds 14-3 on 2 fourth quarter TDs by John Raterman. And on Thanksgiving Day, the Panthers continued the winning streak over the Mustangs, winning 40-0. Parker rushed for 149 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Parker totaled 90 points on the season (12 TDs and 9 conversions) to take the team scoring crown. John Raterman was named the team's MVP, the GCL Back of the Year, and was named to the Enquirer's first-team defensive All-Stars as well as the All-District defensive team. Ron Krechting was similarly honored on the offensive All-Star teams.
