The Elder Panthers continued to achieve remarkable success in the 1990's, with 3 first-place finishes in the GCL, and with four more playoff appearances, in 1991, 1995, 1996, and 1999. In 1996 the team went farther in the state tournament than any previous Elder team when they competed against Lima Senior in the state semi-final game. Coach Grippa left the program in 1997 to coach at Fairfield, but Coach Doug Ramsey guided the Panthers to an 8-2 record, just missing the playoffs. The Panthers continued their winning ways in 1998, finishing 7-3, including a heartbreaking overtime loss to perennial state powerhouse Cleveland St. Ignatius. The 1999 team finished 10-2, defeating 11-0 Centerville before falling to Huber Heights Wayne. (Coincidentally, Wayne was also the first team the Panthers faced in the '90's, the only other time the two teams have met on the gridiron.)

Against arch-rival Moeller, the tide had turned, with the Panthers winning 7 of 11 meetings between the two schools in the '90's. As the decade ended, the Bombers had a two-game lead over the Panthers in the 1990's; Elder had a 9-1 edge over Western Hills and a 8-2 lead over La Salle, and were undefeated in eleven games with Oak Hills.

The leading scorer for the 1990s was Brandon Sowers, who over three seasons scored 33 touchdowns and 1 conversion to achieve 200 points and third place on the school scoring list, behind Larry Parker and Paul Drennan.
